Barrett-Jackson, “The Worlds Greatest Collector Car Auctions” Company and the West World of Scottsdale facility was host for a weekend of B.R.A.K.E.S. Teen driver training programs in the Phoenix area this past weekend (Jan. 16/17). Barrett-Jackson is a new supporter of B.R.A.K.E.S. (Be Responsible And Keep Everyone Safe), the 501c3 organization founded by drag racing champion, Doug Herbert. Thanks to the commitment from Barrett-Jackson, KIA Motors USA, Rodger and Karen Comstock and longtime charity supporters The H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation B.R.A.K.E.S. was able to offer no cost behind the wheel training to 150 teens plus their parents in Arizona.

On January 26th at 6:30 P.M. the focus of the charity will change briefly from training teens to raising funds that will allow the charity to offer more FREE training classes across the country. The dragster is special because it is a B.R.A.K.E.S. dedicated racecar adorned with a picture of Herbert’s sons. The car was last raced on Fathers Day 2013 at Bristol Dragway in Bristol TN. Herbert and his dragsters have a long history at Bristol
Dragway. He is the winningest Top Fuel driver in Bristol Dragway history. He was also the first driver to exceed 300 MPH and the first driver to run under 5 seconds at Bristol.

“In 2008, the year that I lost my boys to a car crash, I started the B.R.A.K.E.S. charity and was able to train 50 teens in the Charlotte, North Carolina area to be safer and more responsible behind the wheel of a car,” said Doug Herbert Founder of B.R.AK.E.S.. “In 2015 due to the incredible support across the country B.R.A.K.E.S. was able to train over 5,000 teens. In 2016 our goal is to increase our teen training by 50%. I do not want any family to have to experience the pain of loosing a child in a car crash that could be avoided. The relationship with the Barrett-Jackson AUCTION folks is just a fantastic boost to our program and we are looking forward to raising a lot of money for the charity at the auction that will allow us to save more teen lives. The fact that this car last raced on Fathers Day at Bristol, Tn. with my boys picture on the side makes it extra special tribute to
them.”

“The B.R.A.K.E.S. organization is simply incredible,” says charity supporter Rodger Comstock. “Teaching our teenagers how to be safer, more responsible and better trained drivers is so important these days. The B.R.A.K.E.S Teen Pro-Active Driving Schools help kids to remain focused while driving and teaches them car control skills to help them avoid having an accident when the unexpected happens.”

“I have always been a huge fan of the Barrett-Jackson Auctions and I love coming to the Phoenix area,” adds Herbert. “Everyone at B.R.A.K.E.S. is very excited about the relationship with Barrett-Jackson and what this fundraising will mean for the charity and our mission of training teens”.

The B.R.A.K.E.S. teen-driving program offers advanced behind the wheel training at many locations across the U.S. at no cost to families. B.R.A.K.E.S. develops curriculum and exercises in response to information received from the D.O.T. and Law Enforcement agencies. B.R.A.K.E.S. goal is to teach training methods that help teen drivers learn valuable skills and give them increased decision-making ability that allows them to avoid
accidents.

A recent scientific study by Dr. Paul Friday of UNC Charlotte indicates that B.R.A.K.E.S. trained students are 64% Less likely to be involved in a car crash than students that have not received B.R.A.K.E.S. advanced training.
