The Carla Wallace Memorial Fund was established in honor of Carla Rene Adams Wallace, a passionate supporter of the B.R.A.K.E.S. lifesaving teen driver training program and a lifelong friend of the B.R.A.K.E.S. organization.
Carla Wallace dedicated her life to “making the world a safer place, not only for our family but for everyone she knew,” explains Mrs. Wallace’ daughter, Lindsey VanWingerden. “Carla had a very big heart, especially for kids. She was a fierce protector. With that in mind, the Wallace family has started this foundation to continue her legacy to help protect kids and keep them safe and educated.”
The Carla Wallace Memorial Fund supports B.R.A.K.E.S. training for teens in need, such as those living in foster care and in underserved and underprivileged communities.
In 2024, the Memorial Fund provided support for weekend training sessions in both Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas, as well as Harrisonburg, Virginia. In addition, it helped fund a special teen driver safety program with Kansas City, Kansas-based WE KAN DRIVE, which helps remove the barriers that youth in foster care face when working towards obtaining their license.
“Establishing this Fund helps preserve the memory of my wonderful wife and her dedication to the safety of children and young adults,” explained Carla’s husband, NASCAR Champion Mike Wallace. “Carla was truly passionate about the B.R.A.K.E.S. program and the impact it has made on teen driver safety. Our family is dedicated to doing all it can to help bring this training to more cities across the United States.”
